Disney’s Virtual Queue System: The Ultimate Guide

Disney's Virtual Queue System

Disney World’s virtual queue system allows you to virtually wait in line for popular attractions while you go and enjoy other things in the parks. It sounds great, and it is, BUT there is a lot to know before you can just go to the parks and expect to virtually wait for every ride.

Virtual queue’s are only for very popular/ new attractions. There are currently only three in all of Walt Disney World at this time.

Here is Everything You Need to Know about Disney World’s Virtual Queue System

What Attractions Offer Virtual Queue?

There are currently three attractions that offer a virtual queue in Walt Disney World.

TRON Lightcycle/ Run (Magic Kingdom)

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (Epcot)

NEW!- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (Magic Kingdom) *Opening June 28, 2024

Be sure to check your My Disney Experience App at the start of your trip to see if there have been any changes to virtual queue offerings.

How Do You Join a Virtual Queue?

Virtual Queue’s are reserved via the My Disney Experience App. You can only join on the day of your visit. There are daily distribution times. Check the App for these times, but they are usually at 7 AM and 1 PM. You can join a virtual queue at 7 AM if you have a valid theme park admission. You can only join at 1 PM if you are at the park the attraction is in.

If you have successfully joined a virtual queue, you and your party will be put in to a boarding group. Your My Disney Experience App will let you know when your boarding group will be available to ride the attraction. You must arrive during your arrival window, which is an hour, to ride.

Things to Consider

  • If an attraction offers a virtual queue then there is NO standby line to wait in.
  • Always check your My Disney Experience App for updates.
  • Make sure your notifications are turned on in your settings for your My Disney Experience App.
  • If you attempt to join a virtual queue, you are not guaranteed to be assigned a boarding group. There are a lot of guests trying to join at once and only so many people can ride an attraction in one day. If you don’t get a boarding group at 7 AM, then you can always try again at 1 PM.
  • Even if you do get a boarding group, that does not mean you will 100% get to ride the attraction. This is because there could be unforeseen down time for a ride, inclement weather, or other unpredictable circumstances.
  • Do not be late for your arrival window. There are a lot of guests to get through each ride per day, so being late will delay other boarding groups and risk some guests not being able to ride. If you are late, cast members will not let you ride.
  • Choose one person in your party to join a virtual queue for your entire group. Multiple people trying to reserve a boarding group at the time for the same party can cause technical problems.
  • If you want to ride TRON at night because of the lights, then I suggest waiting to join a virtual queue until the second distribution time to get a later boarding group.
  • Each guests can only be a part of one virtual queue at a time. If you get a boarding group at 7AM and ride before the 1 PM distribution time, then you can attempt to join another virtual queue at that time.
  • Unlike Genie + or Individual Lightning Lanes, it does not cost any extra to join.
