Simple and Cheap Mickey Mouse Chocolate Pretzel Treats

Dec. 29, 2023

Cheap and simple mickey mouse chocolate pretzel treats

These Mickey Mouse chocolate pretzel treats are perfect for a fun activity for your little ones to help with, a snack for a birthday party, or even a fun gift! This takes a classic and turns into something a Disney lover in your life would enjoy. They can even be made allergy friendly with a few simple switches.

While planning snacks for a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed birthday party for my son and daughter, I needed one more sweet treat. I decided on these chocolate pretzel treats, and they were a hit. Not only were they adorable, they were delicious. They were simple to make and pretty cheap as well! My three-year-old even loved to help put the chocolate kisses on the pretzels. I have family members who are gluten free, and it was easy to adjust to suit their needs.

It’s very easy to make large amounts of these treat. It could even be fun to use them as a Mickey Mouse themed party favor, too. Simply put some a in clear cellophane bag, tie them up nicely with a thank-you tag, and boom, perfect and delicious party favor that your guests will actually appreciate.

How to Make Mickey Mouse Chocolate Pretzel Treats

Four simple steps is all it takes to make these fun snacks. The most tedious part is unwrapping the chocolate kisses. Partially melt a chocolate kiss on a pretzel snap in the oven and then use regular and mini M&M type candies to make a mickey mouse. Once the chocolate is set, they are ready to eat.

Storing Mickey Mouse Chocolate Pretzel Treats

Honestly, leftovers are hard to come by with these, but if you find yourself in the situation where you need to store them then here you go:

Simply put them in an airtight container and leave at room temperature or put them into the fridge…the choice is yours. I would say they are good for about 10 days, but trust me, they will be long gone before then!

Can These Chocolate Pretzel Treats Be Made for Dietary Restrictions?

Yes, it is super simple to make a few switches to fit whatever dietary needs you are looking for. Unfortunately, switching out some ingredients does make these treats a bit more expensive to make.

  • Gluten Free

Easily switch out the pretzel snaps to gluten free ones. Any flat pretzel shape will work, they don’t need to be snaps. My favorite gluten free brand of pretzel to use are the Snyder’s Gluten Free mini pretzels.

  • Dairy Free

Choose dairy free chocolate and M&M candies to use instead of chocolate kisses and traditional M&Ms. The chocolate kisses make it easier to make a Mickey Mouse shape, but any chocolate will do just fine. “Enjoy Life” dairy free chocolate chips and chocolate bars are good alternative to use.

Here are alternatives I recommend for a dairy-free chocolate coated candy:

  • Dye-Free

This one is a bit tricker, and a little bit pricier, but if you have a little one who is sensitive to dye, but still loves Mickey Mouse, then it is doable. I have had trouble finding mini chocolate coated candies that are dye free to make the Mickey ears, but if you use some creativity, it can be done. They may not look perfect, but if you use chocolate chips, the same size chocolate coated candies, or even break the chcolate cnadies in half, you will still get the classic Mickey Mouse shape.

Recipe Tips and Tricks

  • The smaller the batch you make, the more time you have to make your Mickey Mouse shape look perfect before the chocolate starts to set.
  • Eating them out of the fridge adds a firmer texture, so give it a try!
  • Feel free to change up the chocolate you use as the base: white, dark, milk, caramel filled…you name it!
