Beginning July 24, 2024, a new Lightning Lane Pass system will be coming to Disney World. Guests can say goodbye to the Genie + service and Individual Lightning Lanes. This new system will consist of two pass types, allow for more pre-trip planning, and will hopefully be easier for guests to navigate. Unfortunately, the fee for service is here to stay, but at least the 7 am wake up call to get your lightning lane reservations will be a thing of the past.
If you’ve visited Disney World prior to 2020, then you should be familiar with the old FastPass plus system. This new Lightning Lane Pass system is similar to that, but has a fee and the the ride selection window is much closer to the start of your trip.
Everything you NEED to Know about Disney’s NEW Lightning Lane Pass System
What is it?
This new system consists of two Lightning Lane pass types. Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. You can purchase one or the other… or both…prior to your trip to bypass the ride lines. This new system allows you to plan your entire trip ahead of your visit and all at once. You will be able to choose your attractions and arrival windows before finalizing your purchase. The price of these passes is not known yet, but hopefully as the end of July gets closer, we will have a better idea of how much these passes will cost.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass
This pass is taking over the current Genie + service. Choose up to three multi pass experiences/ arrival windows (from a tiered system) in a single theme park. Once you’ve entered the park and used your first pass, you can make an additional selection if one is available. If you have a park hopper pass, then your additional selection can be at another park. You will also receive photo pass perks, such as digital photo and video downloads from attractions.
Lightning Lane Single Pass
This pass is taking over the current Individual Lightning Lane service. Each guest will be able to purchase two single passes per day (depending on availability). These passes will be for the most popular attractions in each of the theme parks and will not be available for Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
When Can You Make Your Lightning Lane Pass Selections?
Guests of Walt Disney World Resort Hotels and a few select other hotels will be able to purchase and select arrival windows up to 7 days in advance.
Guests NOT staying on Disney property will be able to purchase their Lightning Lanes up to 3 days in advance of their park visit.
What Rides Can I Select for Each Pass?
Lightning Lane Multi Pass: There are two ride groups for each of the four Disney World theme parks. Guests can choose one attraction from group one and two attractions (or all three) from group two. Find the attractions available in each group here.
